The Short Version
My name is Earl Winter, and I started Eden Appliance Repair because I got tired of watching good people get ripped off.
How It All Started
Before I went out on my own, I spent ten years working for the big appliance service companies — the ones with the fancy trucks and the 1-800 numbers. I learned a lot about fixing machines. I also learned a lot about how the industry works behind the scenes, and honestly, a lot of it didn’t sit right with me.
I’d show up at someone’s house, diagnose a problem that would take twenty minutes and a $30 part, and then I’d have to quote them $400 because that’s what the system said. Customers would look at me like I’d lost my mind. Some of them were on fixed incomes. Some were young families just getting started. It ate at me.
So in 2011, I quit. Bought a used van, printed some business cards, and started knocking on doors in Irvine as a solo technician. I called it Irvine Appliance Repair back then — nothing fancy, just me and my tools.
Growing the Right Way
Word got around. Turns out, when you charge people fairly and actually fix things the first time, they tell their neighbors. One van turned into two. I brought on Marcus, who’s been doing refrigeration work for 15 years and knows Sub-Zero and Thermador units inside and out. Then Tony came aboard — the guy is a wizard with gas appliances. Ovens, ranges, cooktops, you name it. If it runs on gas, Tony’s your guy.
Sarah joined us to run the front office and handle customer care. She’s the voice you hear when you call, and she’s the reason our scheduling runs like clockwork. If you’ve ever called us and thought, “Wow, that was easy,” that’s Sarah.
Today we’re a team of eight technicians, each one specializing in different brands and appliance types. We’ve completed over 12,000 jobs across South Orange County, and I’m proud of every single one.
Why “Eden”?
A few years back, we rebranded from Irvine Appliance Repair to Eden Appliance Repair. The old name made it sound like we only worked in Irvine, but we’d been serving Tustin, Lake Forest, Mission Viejo, Laguna Hills, and the rest of South Orange County for years. The new name reflects who we actually are — a team that delivers premium-level service across the whole region.
Plus, “Eden” just felt right. We wanted the name to say something about how we treat people — creating a little bit of paradise in an industry that doesn’t always have the best reputation.
A Little About Me
When I’m not under a refrigerator or behind a dryer, I’m at home in Irvine with my wife and our two kids. We moved here because of the schools and the community, and fifteen years later, I can’t imagine living anywhere else. This is my neighborhood. These are my neighbors. That’s why every job feels personal to me.
